Dr Kate Philip is a development strategist, working at the interface between social and economic policy, focused on issues of inequality and employment creation. She is currently the Programme Lead for South Africa’s Presidential Employment Stimulus, which has created jobs and livelihood opportunities for over 1,4 million people since October 2020. Her track record in public employment includes support to the government of Greece during their employment crisis and teaching on the topic at the ILO’s International Training Centre annually for the last decade. She also spearheaded the initial design process that led to the introduction of South Africa’s Social Relief of Distress Grant.
