“INEQUALITY, WORK AND NATURE Strategic Dilemmas, Policy Resolution” will take place at the UCT Graduate School of Business Academic Conference Centre (UCT GDS CC) at Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Breakwater Lodge on 8-9 November 2023. The UCT GDS CC is ideally situated in the heart of Cape Town, and is the perfect venue to host our multi-track conference and workshop programmes, and with comfortable and inviting networking and refreshment areas.

A Sustainable Venue

Sustainability is at the forefront of everything the UCT Graduate School of Business Academic Conference Centre at Protea Hotel by Marriott Cape Town Breakwater Lodge (UCT GDS CC) stands for as they constantly strive to limit the Centre’s impact on our planet. Sustainable building features include:

  • The building has both naturally ventilated and conditioned spaces through a VRV (variable refrigerant flow) system with acoustic and programmable BMS control design considerations and connected to CO² monitors.
  • Electrical and Water sub-metering is provided for all major uses and separately for lighting and for power. All sub-meters are connected to the BMS. Water efficient fixtures have been used. Harvested Rainwater and Greywater is recycled supplies 100% of toilets and irrigation uses.
  • A learning resource will depict to building users the amount of Energy and Water usage and savings and the positive implications of the glazing selection and passive design. Internal stair access has been specifically designed to promote the use of stairs over the use of the lifts.
